Come on out for a relaxing day on the lake with your children! Join us for the Kid’s Fishing Event at Thompson Park just four miles south of the River Centre. The event is free and focused around taking kids fishing as well as providing them with information about aquatic habitats.
The Fishing in the Neighborhood (FiN) and MinnAqua programs of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be hosting the fishing event along with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and members of the Aquatic Resources Education Association (AREA).
No prior experience or fishing gear is needed, everything will be provided. Each child attending the event will be given a bag of fishing education material and fun giveaways after completing the stations.Join in the fun; assist with taking kids fishing, while helping them understand that good fishing depends on good stewardship. Other activities include fish printing, a water stewardship activity, and learning about Minnesota fish and aquatic invertebrates.
This event will be held rain or shine.
