Low-Cost housing for students

Low-cost housing for the 2012 AFS meeting in St Paul is available for graduate and undergraduate students at nearby Concordia University on a first-come basis.

Cost will be $51.45 a night for single or double occupancy, the rooms are air conditioned with free WI FI, and include sheets, blankets, pillow, and towels. The rooms are available from Sunday August 19th through Thursday August 23rd (check out is Thursday morning). Begin the process of reserving and paying for a room by emailing Kyle Zimmer at kdzimmer@stthomas.edu. In your email, list the nights you want a room and whether you want single or double occupancy. If double occupancy, provide the name of your roommate (Kyle will not assign roommates). Kyle will check availability and send you an email directing you to a Paypal site where you will pay for your room. We have to be careful to not double book rooms and use all of our available rooms, so you will have 48hrs to pay for your room via Paypal after you receive the email from Kyle. After 48hrs without payment, Kyle will make the room available to other students.

Rooms are available on a first-come basis, and there are only 24 rooms available per night. Deadline for reserving and paying for a room is 29 March 2012. So do don’t delay in making your reservation and paying for your room.

Final arrangements for picking up cards for building access and keys to rooms will be finalized as we get closer to the meeting. Students are responsible for paying for the cost of replacing damaged access cards ($30), room keys ($25), or lost card-key sets ($100). Students are also responsible for damage to their rooms.

Travel to and from the conference in downtown St Paul from Concordia University is easy via a 15 minute ride on the #21 Metro Transit bus route (see metrotransit.org/Schedules/WebSchedules.aspx?route=21), with one-way trips costing either $1.75 (non rush hour) or $2.25 (rush hour). The bus route runs from approximately 4am to 1am on weekdays.
